To request access, click on the thread title. It opens a window and you can send a message to the thread owner. If the thread owner unlocks you, you will receive an information board by mail, and next to the thread title you will see a "green" key. | Green Key: The symbol next to a thread title means that the thread owner has set restrictions on use, but you have the necessary rights and have access to this thread. |
A Bold Diskussionstitel will mark a discussion containing new postings as new. Tradesignal Online saves information about which discussions a logged in user has read so that the symbol "new" only will be shown for postings which are truly new. If a user reads a discussion and after that leaves the forum, this visited discussion will not be set as 'new'. But if there is a new posting in this read discussion it will be marked as new again.
Search
You can search for names or keywords. The search is only available at the forum overview page.
Special Forums
Some of the forum discussion panels differ from the others by not allowing you to start a new discussion in them. You can only write a posting connected to an already existing article like for example an analysis. In these forums only editors, analysts or administrators can start a new discussion.
Every forum user have access to the user information about himself and about the other users. To display this information simply click at the user name in a posting. The user information contains a.o. the user name, the date when the user registered to the forum, the number of postings written by the user, the number of newly started discussions and further information about the user. In the user information you will also find links to all discussions in which the user is taking part or which he started himself. Using a contact form you can write a message to the user. To create or change your own user information click on the command "Settings" which you will find in the forum overview. The different discussions modes are only defaults for the discussion settings. You can adapt and combine the different possible settings for a discussion you started and thereby create a new discussion modes.
Moderator assignment and administration of discussions
Tradesignal online offers the possibility to set different modes for the forum discussions. By default all discussions are public and the access is not restricted. But the tradesignal online provides an enhanced possibility to create restricted discussions. Using the settings, the moderator of a discussion can change the discussion mode as well as block users from and invite users to a protected discussion. Every member of tradsignal online who starts a new discussion will automatically be the moderator of this discussion. This certain service is only available to members and not to registered users as we only can validate the identity of members in a reliable manner.
Overview of the discussion modes
Overview of the discussion modes
Public This discussion will be public. Every user can read and write postings. Members have no special rights and are treated as normal users. This mode should be used by most discussions. Old discussions which were started before the moderator system was established are public discussions.
Closed (only Members) This discussion is for closed usergroup only. Nobody can read or write any postings except for the user (owner) who started the discussion. The owner can invite other users and give them access to the discussion.
The
closed Thread can be set to
visible or
unvisible. If you choose
visible, only the Threadtile will be visible for other users. If you choose
invisible, no one except the Treadmembers will see the Thread.
Note: If you set limits, they will apply exclusively to forum participants, but not against the operator of the website, as it has by law to comply with its obligations.
Description of a discussion panel
Apart from the
header of a discussion the moderator can add a description of it. This can be done by clicking at "Edit settings". The description can for example contain notes about the discussion and certain rules of participation.
How to set other users to be moderators To set another user as moderator in a discussion which you started, click on "Edit settings" and add the user. Change the access rights of the user to "moderator". In this way it is possible for many users to moderate one discussion.
How to discuss in a private group To discuss in a private group you first start a private discussion. After that you change the settings of the discussion and add the users who you would like to invite to the private group.
How to block a user (for members only) This is a sensitive matter. We offer every member who has started a discussion the possibility to block other users from the discussion. Please note that we do not allow the member to block a user in an otherwise public discussion without a reason. A block of a user is only allowed when the member can prove that the user has disregarded the Netiquette. If a member abuse the block function the board administrator will take action.
How to ignore a user (for members only) If the postings by a special user is annoying you, you have the possibility to ignore these postings. To do this, click on the "Ignore" button which you will find below the user name at the left side of every posting in the forum discussion. The postings written by the ignored user will now be blended out. Instead of the posting you will see a short information and a link to the content of the ignored posting. If you would like to undo this setting, simply click on the "Ignore" button for the ignored user once more to get the default setting back.
How to delete postings A moderator of a discussion can delete postings written by other users. If the posting is disregarding the Netiquette this might be necessary. Still we ask moderators to use this feature only for extreme postings. The removal of a posting can be undone. A deleted posting will still be visible for the moderator and for the tradesignal online staff so that misunderstandings can be resolved.
How to report a posting to a moderator If you read a posting which is not regarding the Netiquette, please give us a message so that we can take action on this. Apart from email, members can use the button "Report posting" which is available in every posting. Still, to report a posting is an action with serious consequences for the writer of the posting. Please consider your responsibility since a user who has got reported will not easily restore his normal status.
How to ask for access by a moderator If a user has no right to read or write in a certain discussion he can ask the moderator for access. The request is sent by board mail to the moderator. He chooses if the user gets access or not and can inform the user about his decision by also using the board mail.
Moderators for "old" discussions If the moderator of a discussion is not any more taking part of it, the users can ask the tradesignal online staff to give another user moderator rights for the discussion.
